BCE también sube tipos... y más

La señora Lagarde, presidenta del BCE, ha anunciado una subida de tipos de 50pb, pero el interés estaba en otro sitio. Cómo defendía con uñas y dientes su nueva criatura, el TPI, supuesto instrumento para que las primas de riesgo no se disparen sin que eso afecte al objetivo de bajar la inflación.

Yo no lo entiendo, de verdad. Si la prima o diferencial de la rentabilidad de la deuda italiana - y no es ejemplo casual - se desmarca demasiado y desordenadamente de de la deuda alemana, el TPI permitirá comprar deuda italiana con los fondos proporcionados de la redención de otra deuda que tenga el BCE y venza en ese momento - que podría ser alemana. 

Aquí hay dos problemas implícitos. 1) es una subvención encubierta del BCE a Italia, y 2) que en momentos como estos antiinflacionistas es una inyección de liquidez. 

No vean cómo la pobre Lagarde se defiende panza arriba contra los insidiosos periodistas. Porque allí existe el periodista insidioso, especie extinguida aquí. Pero por muchas explicaciones de Lagarde, yo sigo sin entender el encaje del TPI en la política monetaria. Y mira que da explicaciones. ¿Explicaciones? Bueno, eso pretende. 

Otra pieza interesante es cuando pregunta alguien por el nuevo impuesto a la banca en España. Lagarde pasa la palabra a Luis de Guindos, vicepresidente, y sus palabras no tienen desperdicio en relación a este gobierno:

The second one, if I may, is the Spanish Government has announced a new tax on banks for windfall profits. They explain they do that because of the interest rate rise. I was wondering if you will eventually have an assessment, and you have an opinion, as you have in the past, because it happened before in other countries.I was wondering do you think it's actually a good answer for after it has been announced, or just because of what has been announced today here?

Lagarde: I think your second question will be addressed my colleague, the Vice-President de Guindos.

de Guindos: Good afternoon everyone. Well, it's very difficult to give an opinion when you do not know the concrete details of the tax. We do not know the characteristics. We do not know whether it will be a tax on profits, it will be a tax on assets. So that's the first thing that we have to say; we do not know the details, and so our opinion cannot be complete in that respect. What I can tell you is what has been our policy line in the past with respect to taxation of banks. If you look at our opinions in the past, they are quite clear. What they tried to make quite explicit is that the tax should not impair credit extension, credit growth, because this is important for economic activity. Second, that we should try to avoid any sort of tightening of financing conditions for households and corporates. Finally, that the tax should not damage the solvency of the banking industry. 

This has been always in the opinions that we have produced in the past. It has been always this kind of message to the governments. But I repeat again, we do not know the concrete characteristics and features of the Spanish tax that has been announced, as you have said, by the Spanish Government. And so in order to have a much more concrete and specific answer and response and opinion, we will have to wait a little bit. 

El gobierno español se ha ido de vacaciones sin decir ni MU a quien va dirigido el impuesto, (¿beneficios, Capital que, % es?), misterio.

Así que tenemos allá periodistas inquisitivos, y tenemos acá un gobierno que no tiene ruedas de prensa porque no le sale del whito. 

Lo único que se sabe es que se trata de hacer daño a la banca, cuando la banca en realidad ¡somos nosotros! Van a poner un impuesto que vamos a pagar todos. Eso seguro. 

¿Es esto socialdemocracia? O es simplemente tocar los webs al país, país que no se entera de nada porque no hay periodistas, periódicos, ni nada similar?, aparte de no interesarle una higa.
