MERKOZY and ZAJOY

So we have two crises now. A still-unresolved eurozone crisis and a crisis of the European Union. Of the two, the latter is potentially the more serious one. The eurozone may, or may not, break up. The EU almost certainly will. The decision by the eurozone countries to go outside the legal framework of the EU and to set up the core of a fiscal union in a multilateral treaty will eventually produce this split.

I wrote in October that a time will come when the interests of the eurozone will not only collide with those of the non-eurozone, but with the EU itself. We are now at that point. On Thursday night, Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy clashed with David Cameron in a familiar Britain-versus-the-rest diplomatic standoff. That itself is not new. But a determination to go outside the treaty to overcome the disagreements adds a new dimension to this long-lasting dispute.

Eso, desde luego, ha quedado ampliamente demostrado hoy. Merkozy, en un avance hacia el sinsentido culmen del absurdo, en una maniobra perfecta hacia la nada, cumbre de su magnífica ignorancia del más mínimo sentido de la economía; con el inestimable apoyo de Rajoy- encantado de asistir en primera línea a su propia destrucción y la de su país- y de Zapatero -que por fin conoce a alguien de su abismático nivel- Merkozy, digo, ha sentado pomposamente una piedra angular en el vacío. Enhorabuena, y enhorabuena a ese par de truanes, Rajoy y Zapo, Zapo y Rajoy, que se merecen una página especial en esta historia, y a los que podríamos bautizar como ZAJOY, el ente de las NO caras, NO mente, el ente resultado de sumar DOS NADAS.
Ya tenemos el Estado perfecto: UN NO REY, DOS NO Presidentes, UNA Europa ABSURDA. Vamos hacia un punto ignoto del cosmos. Pero da igual, pues ya no existimos.
Nunca tanto inepto logró hacer tanto daño en tan poco tiempo. Que Dios les bendiga.
